muru-D Singapore appoints new entrepreneur in residence

1 JULY 2016, SINGAPORE – Telstra-backed startup accelerator muru-D has appointed Craig Dixon as their new Entrepreneur in Residence in Singapore to guide its next cohort of startups from around Southeast Asia.

Craig co-founded the Singapore-based travel technology company Zumata Technologies in 2010 and has since raised three rounds of investor funding from the likes of Wavemaker and 500 Startups.

“We’re excited to bring someone into the muru-D family who has such incredible experience, both in the startup space and from the investor side too – this first-hand knowledge will be invaluable to our next cohort of startups.” said Annie Parker, muru-D Co-Founder.

Craig will lead the mentorship of muru-D’s second cohort of startups, providing guidance and support to accelerate their growth.

“I’m delighted to be joining the muru-D family in Singapore. The team has put a huge amount of work into developing the ecosystem already and I can’t wait to help make it even better. Having the continued support of Telstra behind us too is such a strong selling point,” said Mr Dixon.

“Having spent my past six years in Singapore and Hong Kong in the startup space, I’ve seen a lot of creativity and growth coming from across Southeast Asia, especially in some developing countries where the growth of middle class is rapid and access to the internet has massively improved. I look forward to work with a group of talented startups in the region in our second cohort.”

muru-D Singapore is currently open for applications for its second cohort #SGP2 which will see ten successful startups each receive S$40,000 seed capital through the program. They will also get access to world-class mentors, coaches and Telstra experts as well as dedicated office space at muru-D Singapore’s premise at Amoy Street. muru-D’s focus is building digital businesses which have the ambition of global expansion.

“We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved with our first cohort in Singapore, witnessing nine startups reaching new heights in their businesses, and contributing to the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem across Southeast Asia, I can’t wait to meet the next group of extraordinary entrepreneurs who will join our ever growing family and I encourage any great tech startup wanting to take advantage of the extraordinary growth potential of this region to apply ASAP!” said Annie Parker, muru-D Co-Founder.
