What’s happening at Wattblock?

We like to keep you up to date on the progress of our portfolio companies. Here’s the most recent update from Wattblock, who were part of our SYD2 program.

Co-founders Brent Clark and Ross McIntyre are on a mission to reduce the amount of energy and water being used in residential apartment blocks and are getting interest from around Australia and the world.

Projects, Feasibility Reporting and Testing

1. My Green Apartments Project

Wattblock have just completed a project for North Sydney Council, assisting 12 residential stratas in their local government area across North Sydney, Cammeray, Neutral Bay, Cremorne, Milsons Point & Waverton. Wattblock will be attending an upcoming solar event in conjunction with North Sydney Council.

2. Australian Capital Territory

Wattblock have just completed its first solar feasibility report for a strata in Kingston, ACT. This takes Wattblock’s coverage to six states and 1 territory.

3. Dubai

Wattblock is running a test of its energy reporting in Dubai. This is due to a strong initiative from the Dubai government to roll-out energy performance contracts (EPC’s) across 30,000 locations. Dubai has a strata system which is very similar to the Australian strata framework and a number of Australian strata software companies are exporting.

Speaking Gigs

Wattblock’s Regional Manager for Queensland, Scott Witheridge, spoke at the Strata Community Australia (Queensland) conference in Cairns on 15th March on “Smart Cities – Beyond the Buzzword. Future proofing. The internet of things. Autonomous vehicles. The lingo sounds great, but what does it actually mean for you. We will cover the technologies which smart bodies corporate should be investigating now.”

Co-founder and CDO Ross McIntyre will be co-presenting on Predictive Analytics at the Corinium CDAO conference in Sydney on 20-22nd March. He is joined by Andrew Shook, GM Innovation & Analytics, Energy Queensland.  This follows on from Ross’s speaking engagement at the Clariden Global A.I. Conference at Melbourne Convention Centre in February.  You can download the presentation here (43 pages).
